Harold & Merlin

  • Beautiful black & white boys

  • Harold - estimated 2 years old

  • Merlin - estimated 2 and a half years old

  • Bonded pair

  • Will need annual vet check

  • These cats came from a calici positive household so they are strictly to be kept indoors only and they can't be rehomed with other cats. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions regarding this. Thanks.

Their fosterer says "When both boys arrived, they hid cuddled together. Merlin was very hissy and in fighting state, Harold was terrified of touch but allowing me to do so. I patiently pottered around them, fed with tasty treats and talked calmly. I managed to steal few strokes from Harold but left Merlin alone to minimise any stress. After a week, the boys started coming out and just observing me or playing with toys in the distance. By day 8, Merlin just sat 1 meter away from me and watched. For me it was a massive breakthrough and a definite win. On day 9, Harold decided he actually is a lap cat and plonked himself on my legs. To say this is one of the biggest surprises in my life is an understatement."

UPDATE 1/2/26

Merlin finally gave up the scary cat persona. For the first time yesterday he decided to join Harold on the sofa next to me. Although, he went stiff when I stroke him (I actually checked for breathing), he allowed me to give him some love, one stroke at the time.

As for Harold, he is a fully converted lap cat. He loves sitting on my chest, stretching himself into almost a hugging way and looking at me as I was the best thing since licky lix.

I'm over the moon seeing the progress they made in just 2.5 weeks. Seeing them play like small kittens, throwing toys around or doing zoomies is simply adorable.

UPDATE 12/6/26

Merlin

Despite his hissy beginnings, he is now the most loving boy who loves getting strokes and is the first one in line to receive it. He purrs for England with content, especially when you tell him he is a good boy. He loves his grub, Whiskas in gravy (jelly too) is his favourite although he was also spoiled with some Sheba recently and just demolished the bowl. He snacks on dry food, Licky Lix and any treat you put in front of him. Plays with toys beautifully, always throwing something in the air or chasing the feather on the stick.

He loves to look out the window, seating on the tower like a meerkat with his front paws on high windows, always very curious what's going on outside. On the sunny day he just lounges on the top of the tower enjoying the heat. In the morning, he always waits for me looking at the glass door to see when I am coming down.

Understand the word 'no' pretty well😂When he is up to no good, I just say 'no' and he stops. Also, when I wash the floor and both boys want to go on it, I say 'no' and they turn around which I thought was pretty good and considerate😂 Also, obsessed with me sweeping the floor, he is very attracted to the brush.

The only thing he doesn't like is heavy and loud walking and hides away but if I say 'it's okay', he relaxes and stops running away.

Harold

Again, gorgeous boy and happy to jump on my knees or next to me when I'm lying on the sofa. Doesn't purr at all but comes for a stroke. However, he seems a bit apprehensive when I'm touching his head and cowers when I'm doing it, so I move my hand to scratch his side or chin or the rest of the body. He eats less if wet food than Merlin abd prefers the dry food, so quite often I give him Whiskas (gravy preferably or jelly) and a couple of hours later I leave the dry food out. He is the first to chase the feather on the stick and runs after it like a maniac or jumping for it in the air. Quite often he seats in the tower or his box filled with fluffy blankets and looks at me with what I assume is love😊 He also like to be basking in the sun on the second tower in the basket. Like his brother knows the meaning of 'no' which is quite good.

Both boys started to get nosy and keep looking through the glass door to see what's in the other room. They sometimes venture into the kitchen but quickly run back to their safe space of the living room where they've been residing from day 1.

They are loving life of finally being able to enjoy a cat life. Good food, chilling, playing and scratching the mats. The zoomies seemed to be reserved for the night time or early morning but overall they are happy and chilled cats and came on heaps in the last few months.

They are:

  • Neutered

  • Microchipped

  • Treated to prevent fleas and worms
