Poppy, Pickle, Pip & Pudding

🎈Poppy's Birthday: 1/8/24

🎈Pickle, Pip & Pudding's Birthday: 20/5/26

This little family arrived in foster care when the kittens were around 11 weeks old having been found living in a garden shed, and they’ve certainly kept us busy! The kittens are now around 5 months old, while beautiful mum Poppy is approximately 2 years old.

All four have now successfully had their hernias repaired and have been neutered, so they’re finally ready to start looking for their forever homes.

But this isn’t a family of perfectly polished, instant lap cats. They’re still learning that human hands can be a good thing.

It’s been particularly difficult to build their trust while being the person who has had to prod their hernias, administer ear drops and medication, and repeatedly bundle them off to the dreaded vets! They’re now ready for a fresh start with a clean slate. Thankfully, they are VERY food motivated, which certainly helps them view humans a little more favourably!

Poppy – Mum (Tuxedo)

Poppy is such a beautiful, elegant girl. She can be quite nervous and anxious, particularly in open spaces, and will often dart back to the safety of her favourite spot.

She has been with her crazy kittens for much longer than a mum normally would and often keeps herself to herself, but we’re starting to see glimpses of the confident loving cat hiding underneath. She’s sleeping in open spaces, playing with toys and gradually becoming braver.

Poppy can be quite head-shy and isn’t quite ready to throw herself into your arms, but give her a gentle chin rub or a good bum scratch and she’ll happily accept your services.

She is particularly close to Pickle and Pudding, and we think she would benefit from having a confident feline companion around her. She could potentially live with another cat following a sensible introduction and would also be very happy as an indoor-only girl.

Poppy needs a patient adopter who will let her set the pace and give her the time she needs to realise that humans aren't quite as terrifying as she currently thinks they are. It's the most rewarding feeling when she does get on your lap.

Pickle – The Ring Leader (Grey & White)

If there’s something going on, Pickle is probably responsible.

He’s the ring leader of the gang and is usually the first to investigate, try something new or lead his siblings into whatever mischief they’ve discovered.

He’s confident, curious and full of kitten personality. Like his siblings, he still needs a little work on handling, but his confidence and love of food should make him a very rewarding little chap to work with.

Pip – The treat stealer (Tabby)

Pip is a little sweetheart who will be one of the first to purr if you can actually get your hands on him and if he sits still long enough!

Once you’ve got him, though, he absolutely loves a belly rub.

He’s had a bit of a rough time medically, including needing a second operation after developing a seroma following his hernia surgery, but he has been an absolute little trooper throughout.

He’s now ready to put all that behind him and concentrate on the important things in life: zoomies, mischief, food and belly rubs!

Pudding – The Diva (Black)

Pudding was the smallest of the litter and, in the beginning, was sometimes left out by his bigger siblings.

But don't feel sorry for him he has caught up spectacularly!

He’s another little one who is quick to purr once he finally allows you to get your hands on him, and also loves a belly rub.

He does, however, have some rather strong opinions when it comes to food. Let’s just say that Pudding believes mealtimes should be a five-star dining experience, and he is absolutely not afraid to complain loudly when standards aren’t met.

The kittens are looking for adopters who understand that they still have a little way to go with handling and trust. They’re young, playful and incredibly food motivated, so with patience, consistency and plenty of positive reinforcement, we expect them to continue coming out of their shells.

They can be adopted:

🐾 As a pair

🐾 As a trio

🐾 Individually (provided there is already a young, playful and suitably matched cat in the home).

🐾 Mum with any of her kittens, with Poppy being particularly fond of Pickle and Pudding.

Poppy may also benefit from having a confident feline friend to show her the ropes and could potentially integrate with an existing cat following careful introductions.

We’d particularly love to find these little characters homes where their adopters understand that rescue isn’t always about finding the cat who is already perfect for you. Sometimes it’s about giving them the time, patience and security they need to become the cat they were always meant to be.

They’re all adorable.

They’re all slightly chaotic.

And they’re all very much looking forward to finding their people.

They are:

  • Neutered (Poppy is neutered, kittens will be as soon as they're old enough)

  • Microchipped

  • Treated to prevent fleas and worms
