Cairo

  • Female

  • She is just over a year old

  • Cairo would thrive in a calm, patient household where she is given the time and space she needs to settle, initially in a small room to decompress until she finds her feet.

  • Young children may be a little overwhelming for her, but older, respectful children who understand boundaries would be fine.

  • We don’t know if Cairo has previously lived with other cats but she has heard my own cats nearby without reaction. Subject to careful introductions, she may benefit from living with a calm, confident older cat who could help build her confidence.

  • A cat-savvy, gentle dog may also be suitable.

Cairo came into our care as an unclaimed stray and, at just over a year old, she is a petite young girl who is starting to come out of her shell.

When she first arrived, Cairo was understandably wary of people. She is naturally timid and can be easily startled by household noises or sudden movements, often choosing to retreat to a high vantage point where she feels safe and secure. During her time in foster, she has stayed in my home office, allowing her to slowly adjust to human company at her own pace, hearing my voice, watching daily routines, and learning that she is safe.

With patience and time, Cairo has begun to blossom. She now often greets me when I enter the room instead of running away and will happily come for lap cuddles, purring loudly, even when she’s fast asleep. She can still become a little overwhelmed if given too much attention, but her confidence continues to grow every day, and I expect this will improve further in the right home.

Cairo enjoys playtime, especially wand toys and interactive games, and she is a good, unfussy eater. She is clean and reliable with her litter tray.

Cats like Cairo are incredibly rewarding companions, earning her trust is a truly special experience, and watching her confidence grow is wonderful to see.

If you’re looking for a gentle companion and are willing to let a shy cat come to you in her own time, Cairo could be the perfect match — and the bond you build with her will be incredibly rewarding.

She is :

  • Neutered

  • Microchipped

  • Treated to prevent fleas and worms
