I grew up with animals. It was always the 'Homeward Bound' 2 dogs and a cat situation.

At 19, I went off to South Africa to work in Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre for 3 months. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Working with all those animals. Walking past lions, rhinos, etc, to get to breakfast. I met a wonderful veterinary nurse out there who inspired me to go into the profession. I was training at a vets for a while before life took me to China for a few years.

How did I get into the volunteer world?

Very sadly, I lost my cat to a road traffic accident and told myself I could never go through that again.

In 2016, I was persuaded to start fostering. It was incredibly rewarding, I said I wasn't going to keep any foster cats, but here I am 7 failed fosters later! Yes, 7 🤦🏼‍♀️

In 2023, Jenna approached Gaye and I about potentially opening a cat charity. I threw in the name Matilda (Minnie's original name), Gaye threw in Haven, Jenna changed it to Matilda's nickname Minnie and the rest is history!

In February 2024, we got our charity status!

What do I do in Minnie's?

Social media, paperwork, emails, banking, accounts, fundraising, home visits, Vinted, I still foster when I can (but due to the layout of my new house, I am restricted), handrears and much more. I spend more time on Minnie's than I do my paid employment, but I remind myself of all the cats we help!

My animals:

Cats - Diesel, Noah, Grover, Millie, Luna, Goose and Mochi.

Bearded Dragon - Lilo
